Elena and Chris' exquisite Greek Orthodox Wedding

The NEC, National Wedding Show is always very busy for us with lots of brides-to-be visiting our bridal jewellery stand.  The show last October was no exception but we were fortunate to be surrounded by lovely fellow exhibitors who made it fun and offered each other lots of support and encouragement.  Elena, on a hotel stand opposite us with the most amazing sunny bridal images, had the brightest smile, friendliest face and greatest stamina!  As we got to know her we gradually got to hear of her wedding plans and were absolutely thrilled when she ordered her bridesmaids jewellery from us.

Elena fell in love with the Fuchsia Cherish Pearl Bridesmaids Necklaces which she gave to her younger bridesmaids. She also chose the matching Fuchsia Cherish Pearl Bridesmaids Earrings as thank you gifts to her adult bridesmaids who wore dresses in exactly the same colour.  Both bridal jewellery designs fitted in perfectly with her wedding theme of pearls and orchids in a bridal colour scheme of fuchsia, silver and ivory.  In her lovely thank you note Elena says “Your little pearls drops gave each bridesmaid a small bit of my theme to carry with them and keep forever - they went wonderfully.  I've loved pearls for years - their colour and their texture, but it was only after my Nan bought me a beautiful pearl necklace that she wanted me to wear on my wedding day that I officially made it a theme.”

Elena’s bridesmaids were two of her closest friends, Chrystalla & Thekla, her little sister Georgina, and hubby Chris' three little nieces, Stephanie, Vasilia and Joanna. Elena goes on to say “the fuchsia pink Swarovski crystal on each of their pieces of bridesmaid jewellery had a tendency to shoot out light in the glorious sunshine and gave them the perfect bit of sparkle.  My sister Nat was Maid of Honour and, as you can probably tell from her part grey/part violet dress, the grey Swarovski crystals in her Black Diamond Cherish Pearl Bridesmaids Earrings really set off her whole ensemble. They seemed to take colour from her outfit and matched perfectly!”

Chris and Elena’s wedding ceremony was in a beautiful little church in Walsall - The Orthodox Church of the Nativity of the Mother of God.  They had a relaxing hour long ride (they took the scenic route) in an old, ivory coloured Rolls Royce to their reception venue in Coventry, The Royal Court Hotel.  While their guests enjoyed mouth watering canapés, the bride and groom had their wedding photos taken in the beautiful grounds there.

Their stunning wedding cake was made by Elena’s Aunty Despina. She has a little company making cakes (Despina's Cakes), as well as teaching at a college in the day.  She made each orchid on the cake by hand.  Elena has loved orchids for a few years - ever since her Mum started filling her house with them. For their table centre pieces they had the brilliant idea of buying vases and inserting living three stem potted orchids into each which again linked in with the wedding theme. The band organised a competition for each table, and the winner was able to take the whole centrepiece home with them! Elena chose fuchsia as her bridal colour theme as both she and Chris think it’s a marvellous colour. Elena says that she also picked fuchsia as they really needed a colour that would make the wedding party stand out amongst the vast crowd of 454 guests!

As part of their wedding celebrations Elena and Chris performed the traditional Greek Money Dance. Elena explained to me “It's very overwhelming. Instead of buying us a gift, people come and pin money on us while we are dancing - money that will help us set ourselves up as a married couple. We got so hot while dancing it though “. As Chris is about to sit his accountancy exams, the bride and groom opted for a relaxing 4 night mini-moon in Lazarote at a luxury 5 star hotel and plan to take a longer honeymoon further a field later in the year.

The chic style and detailing in Elena and Chris’s wedding is exquisite. We have been pouring over these lovely photos for nearly two weeks now before sharing them with you all. Her generous thank you note left me on a high for days, thank you Elena. Wishing Chris good luck with his exams and look forward to hearing your latest news at the next NEC National Wedding Show.

For anyone that's reading this blog about my wedding, I'd just like to publicly thank Julieann & Malcolm. Not only are they fabulous (and very tall!) people (there aren't many people, girls especially, that I can talk to without looking down as I myself am 5' 10"- tall folk, UNITE!), they are also incredibly trustworthy, massively kind, and ridiculously helpful - and of course, Julieann is a very talented lady!

For any brides out there planning their wedding, trust me, unless you are the luckiest bride on Earth, some things will just go wrong, or it will be difficult getting in touch with someone, or something will be the wrong size... Julieann Beads was one of the only companies who always made the effort to help in every way they could. I would recommend them wholeheartedly, as I'm sure every other bride here would!

Thanks so much guys!
